Horse Racing Hong Kong, Happy Valley Racecourse

Happy Valley Race Course is the first—and, for 134 years, only—Hong Kong race track. It is the older of only two horse race tracks in Hong Kong, both managed by the Hong Kong Jockey Club.
This Hong Kong race track was built originally in 1845 on a swampland to provide horse racing for the British people in Hong Kong. The first Hong Kong horse race was run here in December 1846, but the Hong Kong race course was destroyed by a fire in February 1918, a fire that had the highest casualties in Hong Kong history.
Happy Valley race track in Hong Kong was rebuilt in 1995 to become a world-class horse racing facility. Housing the Hong Kong Racing Museum, this Hong Kong horse racing track is encircled by several football, hockey, and rugby fields. It is is located in Happy Valley on Hong Kong Island, surrounded by Wong Nai Chung Road and Morrison Hill Road.
